Navigating the Employment Landscape with PEM Law

PEM Law understands that addressing employee issues promptly makes business run more smoothly.    Our team is well versed in addressing the day-to-day challenges of managing a workforce.  We believe that developing consistent strategies and policies helps you navigate the full employment experience, from hiring to retirement.

Laws governing employer obligations and employee rights continue to evolve.  We routinely provide guidance and risk mitigation strategies for compliance with state and federal laws regarding, among others, leave, EEO, discrimination, workplace accommodations and reductions in force.  In addition, we routinely help employers draft of policies and offer training on complying with various HR policies. Also, we conduct internal investigations related to allegations of workplace discrimination and other potential policy or legal violations.    We proactively work with clients to identify and address risky HR and payroll practices before they can become claims.  For example, we audit a client’s pay practices to identify compliance issues and then advise our clients on how policies and job descriptions could be revised to minimize the risk related to those issues.

Regardless of risk management strategies taken, employers still get sued. When that does happen, we have the depth, experience and subject matter expertise to aggressively defend our clients in a broad range of employment law matters, which includes,  failure to accommodate disabilities; discrimination, including race, gender, sex, national origin and age; unlawful discipline; wrongful discharge; “whistle-blower” actions, workplace defamation; and other tort-based employment claims and individual contract actions (including restrictive covenants), as well as arbitration proceedings, before state and federal courts and administrative agencies.   We strive to obtain the best possible result in the most cost-effective manner that meets, and usually exceeds, our clients’ expectations.
